Finding God In All Things - 19th February +

FINDING GOD IN ALL THINGS

Exploring ways of Praying

When prayer is mentioned many of us feel a twinge of guilt. We are not doing enough of it or are not very good at it, but little help is offered to us, so we are a bit stuck. So we leave it to the ‘experts’, at the prayer group, safer that way.

This experiential, workshop style course, is for all  (all of us are beginners).  We will draw on the ancient and new riches of our Christian tradition for creative and contemplative ways into prayer. Some no doubt familiar, some new.

There will be plenty of opportunity to share our experiences, but it will not be a discussion group. We will seek to nourish ourselves and each other, seeking light and strength for our daily lives as we balance activity and prayer.

Material will be offered on the ways of praying to use between the sessions (hence the 2 week gap between sessions).

A  willingness  to engage on the day, between sessions and availability for most sessions will reap the greatest benefit, but each session is free standing, if you are only able to attend a few.

Beginning  February 19th then  fortnightly: March 4th,18th, April 1st then after Easter: April 22nd and May 6th.

All sessions: 10.30 -12 noon at Elsdon Ave Church, Seaton Delaval.

We will explore:

  • Our Images of God, explore what prayer is for each of us
  • Praying with Scripture and Sacred Text
  • Praying with the Imagination
  • Praying  with  Creation, the Body and the Senses
  • Praying with a pen in my hand…  (Reflective journalling )
  • Finding God in All things – Review and What  next?
